You can stroll, picnic or hike; cycle or mountain bike; bird watch, fish or safari!
West Shore Beach Cafe,
West Shore Beach Cafe, situated on the West Shore of Llandudno in beautiful North Wales. It is motorised and continually sweeps from left to right, with views over to Penmaenmawr at its furthest point south. Behind this town you can see the northern-most point of mountains adjoining the Snowdonia mountain range. When the camera swings to the central western position, it focuses on Puffin Island just off the eastern tip of Anglesey, which itself can be seen behind Puffin Island on a clear enough day. In this position you might also see watersports such as windsurfing, and the surfboarders in action.
Grosmont Station
Grosmont Station is home to the operating and engineering world of the NYMR. Here you will find the engine sheds where our steam and diesel locomotives are maintained and restored. Head through the George Stephenson tunnel built in 1835 and you’ll find yourself at the shed shop. If you are lucky you might also be able to catch a sneaky peak at the work taking place on our engines. The 1952 themed Grosmont Station is the junction where the heritage railway ends and the main rail network begins, connecting both Middlesbrough and Whitby to the NYMR with the Esk Valley Line.
Rhoscolyn
Borthwen is a pretty, sandy crescent located on the southern shore of Holyhead island. Backed by sand dunes there are also a few little rocky islets along the length of the beach.
This is a great family beach with its shallow sloping sands and abundance of rockpools. There are also a few basic amenities such as toilets and showers.
The beach at Borthwen is reached by a very narrow lane and there is a small (free) car park by the beach.
Cemaes Harbour.
Cemaes Bay truly is a lovely everyman village with a pretty little harbour and two beaches.
Both beaches are perfect for all manner of fun beach activities, Sailing, Windsurfing and Surfing.
The Fishing can be excellent along the coast behind St Padrig's Church along the headand on the Llanbadrig Ledges.
Langrannog.
Llangrannog is an excellent beach all year round. Popular with families, surfers or just for relaxing and watching the world go by from the many excellent cafes and pubs. You can choose from traditional pub food overlooking the sea, or home made ice cream at the beach cafe. From the main beach at Llangrannog it is possible at low tide to walk round to the second beach, or or by the cliff path which climbs by steps next to the Quay Café at any time. A circular walk can be followed around the headland of Ynys Lochtyn. The Ceredigion Coast Path comes into Llangrannog village from Penbryn by dropping down right to the beach. The views along the coast are some of the best in west Wales.
